GHP-TNL Counterfeit Antimalarial App

Building off previous work funded by the Global Human Progress initiative, this collaborative project supported by GHP and TNL seeks to create a prototype mobile application that helps people identify counterfeit anti-malarial drugs. Collaboration with ESRI for proof-of-concept app prototyping.

Scenario: regulator wants to visualize information on medication purchases made from pharmacies in Lagos. The regulator also wants to visualize this aggregated information on pharmacies and identify areas where sale of counterfeit medication is high.

Demo of the rapid prototype mobile application. A user would select a local pharmacy. Once at the location, they can verify the drug (based on lot number or other distinguishing features – eg bar code). Verification can be local on the device (if using something like check sum) or can go to a network database.
