This project, funded in-part by the Cazier Environmental Initiative, combines Internet of Things (in this case, low-cost particular matter sensors that report to the cloud), crowdsourcing, and citizen science elements to explore the question, “what if we had a lot more air quality sensors within a smaller geographic location.

November 2018. Tracking PM levels before and during a major fire event. It was interesting to be collecting data during a significant event and be able to have data to go along with the in-person impressions from people on the ground at the time.

Comparing weekdays vs weekends during November of 2018 (excluding the fire days). This is a curious result and not clear how generalizable it is – we haven’t looked at all the data yet. Certainly worth of further exploration.
