The Story That Won’t Die…

Certain conspiracy theory fans have been working the story that Covid-19 is “man-made” and a weapon – or at the very least a “lab accident” for some time now. Despite strong scientific evidence that continues to come in. While we can never be 100% certain about pretty much anything in the realm of science, we certainly can amass enough evidence to have a pretty good idea of how things work. But the narrative of a zoonotic jump for the Coronavirus isn’t exciting, and certainly doesn’t advance certain political agendas. So we have fringe (and sometimes more mainstream) media crafting logically flawed “evidence” that some consume and pass to their friends. Conspiracy theories are an interesting subset of Truth Decay, and there are plenty of variations to explore with the pandemic.
