the unbearable lightness of masking

An interesting piece in Slate talking about why Americans are typically resistance to wearing masks in public. Lots of baggage to be worked through, and easy to compare to Asian countries/cultures where masks were commonplace even before Covid-19. The US is a vastly different cultural creature, with a broad spectrum of belief systems and values. Ignoring the differences and drivers while considering policy will be problematic on a lot of levels.
